We asked…Richard Answered

What advice would you give to a young accounting professional interested in working with hospitality and club clients?

Become an expert in the issues facing the industry. Seek mentors who can assist you in becoming an expert. Network with clients and industry professionals. Finally, commit to lifelong learning of the industry and its regulations, which constantly evolve.

How do you assist clubs in navigating the complexities of tax compliance and exemptions?

I assist clubs in navigating tax compliance and exemptions by continually educating myself on the rules and regulations, being involved in industry-related organizations, writing related articles/bulletins, making presentations and being available to answer any question, any time, whether from a client or non-client.

How do you measure success?

I measure success not by personal performance or personal goals, but by making a positive difference in the lives of the people I meet, whether professionally or personally.
