PP&Co employees participate in volunteer activity to build a playground
July 23, 2009
At the end of July over 20 PP& Co employees participated in a corporate volunteer activity in conjunction with The Boys and Girls Club of Silicon Valley and KaBoom, a national non-profit group that empowers communities to build playgrounds. The participation of our staff was overwhelming, we had two groups of 10 that signed up to work either the preparation day or the build day. The weather was hot and the work was hard but the team effort to provide this much deserved playground for the Boys and Girls Club location near Reid-Hillview airport was very fulfilling.
Prep day was a full 8 hour day with about 30 participants to get everything set up for the build day. Holes were dug, wood was cut, cement was poured, and templates made, all to get things underway for the final assembly of the playground. It took over 200 people to get the playground equipment assembled and built. Everyone involved felt a sense of accomplishment to be able to see the finished playground which included an outdoor classroom, a vegetable garden, and a jungle gym for the kids to enjoy for many years to come.
